Francis, who landed in Nairobi yesterday, is in Kenya as part of a landmark three nation tour of Africa. He will also visit Uganda and troubled Central African Republic before flying back to Italy on Monday.
Thousands of extra armed policemen and soldiers have been deployed on the streets of the capital to ensure his first visit to Africa was a peaceful visit.
Earlier today, the Argentinian pontiff told Christian and Muslim leaders they have no choice but to work together to ward off the 'barbarous' extremist attacks that have plagued Kenya recently.
More than 1.4million were expected to watch him deliver his first public mass on African soil but many left early because they feared the 'disorganised' event could spark a stampede.
Among the hundreds of thousands who did brave the horrendous, muddy conditions following heavy rainfall were a group of incredibly excited nuns.
They took selfies of themselves with other loyal followers and raised their iPads to get a good photograph of Francis as he drove past.

Africa  really need help, this is Kenya country
