9 Boko Haram Terrorists Killed During Attack On Military Base In Borno
Gwoza town is the former headquarters of Boko Haram terrorists but has been retaken by the Nigerian military on March 27th.
"The (Boko Haram) attack on the army base led to a gun battle which lasted for about three hours this morning. Boko Haram launched the attack at about 3am and it lasted till about 6.30am, the gallant troops killed at least nine insurgents during the fierce gun battle," a local vigilante in Gwoza said.
The spokesman for the 7th Army Division and Coordinator of Media for Operation Lafiya Dole, Colonel IT Gusau, confirmed the attack at a press conference.
According to Colonel Gusau, "nine of the terrorists were killed and one soldier was wounded. The soldier is receiving treatment now."
This Boko Haram attack comes one day after the 7th Army Division and the 112 Task Force Battalion recovered weapons and vehicles from a battle with terrorists in Busheshe village. Included in the recovered weapons were two anti-aircraft guns, three 81 millimeter bombs, one hundred and one 60 millimeter bombs, and two Toyota Hilux vans.
