Anti-Corruption Lawyer Drags APC Governor Abubakar Bagudu To Court For Unprecedented Corruption
A serving APC Governor from the North West of Kebbi Alhaji Abubakar Bagudu is to appear in court tomorrow Thursday, January 21 for corruption related charges.
Since President Muhammadu Buhari’s searchlight on corruption looks away when it concerns APC members, an anti corruption crusader and lawyer Barrister Sahabi Sani Sami has dragged the governor to Abuja federal High Court seeking that he step down as governor following a pre-election evidence that he ought not stand for election following his involvement in series of corrupt charges.
In suit HHC/ABJ/CS/312/2015, the plaintiff enumerated series of corrupt cases involving the Governor both home and abroad for which he is still refunding money secretly at the CBN but still enjoys the protective cover of The Buhari led APC government.
Governor Alhaji Abubakar Bagudu is wanted in the United States of America, over his involvement in the looting of over $600million during the reign of late General Sani Abacha. It has been reported that the Governor masterminded the stealing of millions of U.S Dollars from the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and wired same to several foreign accounts through phony companies he set up for himself and the Abacha family.
It is also reported that Bagudu and his family are currently fighting civil forfeiture claims to an additional approximately $148 million, part of the money he stole, kept in four investment portfolios in the United Kingdom.
