Gambia-Nigeria Ties Remain Cordial- Minister Nyassi


Hon. Musa Amul Nyassi made this remark over the weekend as he presided over the Golden Jubilee birthday celebration of His Royal Highness (HRH) Oba (Rtn) Dr. Moshood Kolawole Babalola Abolade (JP) Ariwajoyel I King of Yoruba Community in The Gambia at Paradise Estate in Farato.
Minister Nyassi congratulated the celebrant for his 50th birthday, stating that he felt happy to be associated with the celebration.
“Gambia-Nigeria relation has yielded more dividends from 1994 to date under President Jammeh’s leadership and it will continue to give more dividends,” Minister Nyassi said.
According to him, the two countries based their diplomatic cooperation on issues of mutual interest like in the areas of defense, education, health, the judiciary and other development sectors of concern.
For her part, the Governor, West Coast Region, Aminata Siffai Hydara stressed that the governments of both countries contribute significantly to the socio-economic advancement of the two countries.
Governor Hydara added the people of both countries coming together on such an occasion would cement the already existing bilateral relations between them.
“The contribution of the Nigerian community in the country in all sectors of development cannot be overemphasised and under President Jammeh’s Government, our relationship will continue on a range of issues: economic, political and military,” she affirmed, adding that the ties and bond between The Gambia and Nigeria are too strong.
The chargé d’affaires, Nigerian Embassy in The Gambia, His Excellency Mansur G. Abdulkarim wished His Royal Highness a happy birthday. He stressed that the celebration was part of strengthening the cordial relations between the two Governments and their beloved people.
“I am sure the cooperation between the two brotherly countries would continue from strength to strength and His Royal Highness’s 50th birthday celebration should be seen as a blessing for the two countries,” he said.
The ceremony was graced by the Paramount Chief of The Gambia, Alhaji Demba Sanyang, Head Chiefs of Foni Bintang Karanai and Bondali Districts, Alfusainey Jarjue and Bakary Badjie, respectively and the Nigerian community in The Gambia.
