I started as a chorister – Saint Obi

From Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde to Segun Arinze and a Yoruba actor and producer like Lanre Hassan (Ogogo), several Nigerian movie stars have at one time or the other ‘branched’ into music. While none of their efforts has been phenomenally successful, Nollywood star, Obinna Nwafor, popularly called Saint Obi, showed his musical colours recently when he came up with three singles.

His re-make of John Legend’s song, Imagine the Dream, announced his new passion, especially when it hit the social media a few weeks ago.

While Obi’s fans are still watching his steps, the actor says the adventure is a way of returning to his first Obi says the fact that he started as a chorister shows that music has always been part of him.

He says, “I have a deep passion for music and I started as a chorister before acting took place. This record label is my own. I am trying to use my resources to help talented young ones excel and for now we have two talented artistes. AGWHYTE is all about bringing the best talents in order to give fun seekers sweet music. So, when you do not get good music from us, I will refund your full payment for the CD plate.”

On why he re-mixed Imagine the Dream, the actor explains that the song is very inspirational in the sense that it preaches peace.

“I want people to know that there is no need killing ourselves, since we all have little time to spend on earth. Dialogue can settle these crises going on everywhere. I am not a professional singer, but I am a social crusader. So I would say that the desire to create a better world prompted the song.”

He adds that he also wants to use the song to support UNICEF.love which, according to him, is music.
