New PDP Chairman, Sheriff vows to reclaim power from APC in 2019

Newly appointed National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ali Modu-Sheriff, on Wednesday assured that the party will take over power from the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, in 2019.
Sheriff made the remark in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, during a thanksgiving service to mark the victory of the state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu at the Supreme Court.
The party chairman, who averred that nothing will bar the opposition party from regaining power in the next presidential election, said, “We are here today, we are starting from here, and we are going to Aso Rock, Insha Allah by 2019.
“We will head from here and we will do it together. This my long cap is prepared to lead my colleagues and brothers to Aso Rock, Insha Allah.
“By the grace of Allah nothing will deter this party from going to Aso Rock in 2019. By the time we put down our master-plan I am sure they (APC) will go back to where they came from. And Insha Allah, nothing will stop us.”
Sheriff, a founding member of the APC, defected to the PDP in 2014 ahead of last year’s national elections.
He is a former senator and erstwhile governor of Borno State.
